Music Connector

Connecting Young People with Musical Opportunities in Waltham Forest

We are delighted to be part of Young Sounds UK Connector Network. This is a network of music education experts across England whose role is to connect young people and families with musical experiences in their local area.

Our Waltham Forest Connector Dani Walsh introduces himself:

"My parents always told me that before I could even speak, I could point to the album cover of whichever CD was playing. I'm not sure how true this is, but it might help explain how big a part of my life music has always been.

I grew up in East London and started playing violin at the age of 7. I taught myself how to play guitar immediately after first hearing Paranoid Android by Radiohead, and have branched out to piano, vocals, and "anything-with-strings-on-it" over the years. I've played in many bands (some more successful than others, both creatively and financially) and orchestras across the UK and Europe, once on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury just before some young upstart called Ed Sheeran. I've always wondered what became of him...

I've been incredibly privileged to have had a long and varied teaching career, both as a tutor with WFMS and as classroom teacher, most recently as Head of Department at an Alternative Provision in East London.

I'm so happy to be working with WFMS as their 'Connector', and very grateful to have the opportunity to offer the support, guidance, and information that my family and I were so fortunate to have when I was young. Please get in touch and I will endeavour to help you on your musical journey as best I can."
